Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland Government’s dedicated global business agency, designed to help facilitate Queensland exporters take their products to world markets, promote Queensland as the perfect place to invest and builds global engagement for attracting talented skilled migrants and developing international students to grow Queensland economies and communities.

The Strategy, Engagement and Communication (SEC) Division is responsible for leading TIQ’s strategic communication, marketing, branding, events, economic analysis and whole-of-government policy priorities for the organisation. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, you will play a key role in driving the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy 2022-32. You will play a strong leadership role in supporting the CEO and Executive Leadership Team and you will be instrumental in advancing the strategic positioning and performance of the Queensland Government’s global trade and international investment brand profile.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide expert strategic advice to the CEO and the Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment regarding planning, performance, opportunities, and risks on how best to strategically position the agency to support economic development across Queensland.
• Provide forward thinking, motivational team leadership to a high performing, multidisciplined team, fostering a professional environment which encourages commitment to ethical behaviour, skills development, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and facilitate effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including Government representatives at local, state and federal levels & with clients and industry to facilitate collaboration opportunities and outcomes.
• Maintain contemporary strategic performance management frameworks and reporting systems, including analysis and report on the impact of regulatory and financial regimes & international economic trends relating to trade and investment.
• Oversee the agency’s annual business cycle of planning and reporting including delivery of the Strategic plan, Annual report and Service Delivery Statement.
• Lead the development, implementation and integrity of the organisation’s narrative, reputation and brand to ensure activities align with the department’s longer-term strategic objectives.
• Lead and support the development of internal and external communication plans that enable the organisation to deliver government policy and programs.
• Lead the design and deployment of effective communication strategies, protocols, stakeholder negotiation and liaison activities across TIQ’s international network and other private and public sector organisations.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate experience in navigating complex, ambiguous and political environments and have a clear understanding of the Queensland government’s priorities and the State’s economic environment. Your communication skills, extensive negotiation experience and personal drive and integrity are critical to the success of this role.
