About the role

Reporting to Chief People Officer, you will have a seat at the executive table providing strategic leadership on industrial relations matters impacting our school and corporate workforce. Through your leadership and implementation of key policies and practices you will be helping our department achieve positive outcomes for our workforce.

This role will lead the negotiation of our awards and industrial instruments, and will drive implementation of the most effective employee relations frameworks. You will be an expert in collaborating with our employees, unions, and key stakeholders across the department.

What are we looking for

  • Experience & Qualifications – Extensive workplace, employment, or industrial relations experience/qualifications gained in a similar professional services environment is desirable but not essential. A willingness to quickly learn the portfolio is critical.
  • Leadership – Demonstrated experience leading a large complex organisation and/or senior HR leadership experience, ideally but not necessarily in an employee relations role.
  • Communication & Negotiation – Highly experienced in resolving difficult matters with multiple stakeholders in a large and complex environment, ideally but not necessarily in an industrial relations context.
  • Partnership – Demonstrated experience in building strategic partnerships with a large range of internal and external stakeholders and familiarity with diverse and complex workforces.
  • Commitment – Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
