Join a leading mining operation and play a key role in environmental management and sustainability. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to support and enhance environmental performance at a well-established open-cut coal mining operation in Central Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and monitor progressive rehabilitation efforts.
- Implement erosion and sediment control measures.
- Provide land disturbance advice and manage permitting.
- Conduct assessments for closure planning and approvals.
- Develop and execute environmental management plans.
- Oversee contractors on environmental projects.
- Support environmental reporting and compliance.
- Engage with the workforce to promote environmental awareness.
- Mentor and develop junior environmental team members.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in environmental management within the mining or resources sector (preferably coal).
- Supervisor qualifications - S1,2,3 & G2 (or ability to obtain).
- Experience with rehabilitation planning, fauna management, and risk management processes.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and best practices.
- Experience using GIS mapping software such as ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong ability to manage contractors and engage with stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement in environmental performance.
