We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Highways Civil Engineer/ Technician to join our vibrant and enthusiastic Highways and Transport infrastructure group based in Melbourne. You will be a key member of the Highways team where your previous design and consulting experience in highways and transport infrastructure, will aim to enhance the team’s portfolio of skills and expertise in this area.

About the role
The role is part of the Highways team within the Infrastructure Group in Melbourne. It covers a broad range of skills relating to highways and transport infrastructre, with a focus on road design, project delivery and design management. This will include:

  • Being responsible for undertaking general civil engineering and road design tasks assigned to you in order to meet client requirements for the documentation of various civil and highways projects;
  • Having responsibility for managing your own workload, quality design checks and meeting deadlines;
  • Being accountable for providing information in an articulated and organised manner, following Arup’s established processes and procedures; and
  • Providing progress information to allow accurate reporting of progress.

About you

You will ideally have:

  • Relevant industry experience in Highways Engineering with an emphasis on designing roads and road furniture elements within a consulting business environment;
  • Knowledge and application of Austroads Guide to Road Design and relevant VicRoads Supplements, Road Design Notes and Standard Drawings;
  • Knowledge of the documentation standards of VicRoads;
  • Experience in the operation of software design tools including Inroads, OpenRoads and Microstation. As well as other software packages relevant to area of technical specialism; and
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills and effective report writing.
