The End of Life Service Development Officer (SDO) is responsible for leading the development of the ISLHD End of Life service model that integrates subspecialties, enhances inpatient and community focused approaches with the aim to provide high quality end of life care for patients and seamless care for patients and families across all settings. The End of Life Service Development Officer will provide strong leadership whilst overseeing the strategic direction of enhanced end of life care in the ISLHD. The position will be situated within the Division of Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care and report to the Palliative Care Clinical Services Manager.

This position will undertake project management activities including project planning, stakeholder engagement, change management, service development, implementation and evaluation of activities and milestone reporting. The End of Life Service Development Officer (SDO) works closely with the specialist palliative care services and collaboratively with Ministry of Health (MoH), Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI), eHealth, LHD managers and clinicians to facilitate the implementation of priority projects. The role will support the delivery of the NSW Health End of Life and Palliative Care Framework (the “Framework”) priorities and local implementation of the Clinical Principles for End of Life and Palliative Care guideline.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
