Employment Lawyer

Description:

We are seeking an Associate or Senior Associate with expertise in employment law and complementary experience in commercial work, litigation, or dispute resolution. This role offers the chance to work across a variety of matters, from high-level advisory to contentious disputes, while contributing to the growth of the firm's employment law practice.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating senior-level employment contracts, including CEO and executive agreements.
  • Representing clients in Fair Work Commission disputes such as unfair dismissal and adverse action claims.
  • Advising on employment law aspects of M&A transactions, including employee due diligence.
  • Providing risk management advice and delivering tailored client training on employment law issues.
  • Supporting or leading the employment law practice within the firm’s established client base.

Billables:

On average, the target is five billable hours per day. However, the firm values quality work and client outcomes over strict adherence to billable hour targets, ensuring a balanced and flexible working environment.

  • Why Join This Firm? Work closely with an experienced leader: Partner with a highly regarded lawyer who has built a strong reputation in employment law and the not-for-profit sector.
  • Impact and autonomy: This is your opportunity to take the lead in shaping and growing the firm’s employment law practice.
  • Quality work, realistic targets: A steady pipeline of diverse, meaningful matters with a focus on results, not just numbers.
  • Supportive environment: Enjoy flexibility, work-life balance, and a collaborative team that rewards ambition and initiative.

The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who brings:

  • 4+ years post-admission experience with strong expertise in employment law.
  • A mix of front-end and back-end employment experience, including advisory and disputes work.
  • Additional expertise in commercial law, litigation, or dispute resolution.
  • A proactive, energetic approach and a passion for growing a practice.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with large and established clients.
