Role Title – Electrical Engineer

Work Location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

Fortescue Future Industries are looking for an Electrical Engineer with detailed design experience. In this role you will provide support and advice in the design and operation of power systems for our renewable energy and green hydrogen business.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Performs electrical engineering activities, involving the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, systems, or equipment.
  • Participates in one or more of the following:
    • Equipment design and development
    • System design, including concept sketches and layouts
    • Preparation of specifications and design calculations
    • Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers
    • Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports
    • Preparation or review of material quantity estimates
    • Uses power system modelling software e.g. ETAP, DigSilent and preferably PSSE CAD
    • Communicates with equipment suppliers and technology providers, writes formal communications.
    • Reviews design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations.
    • Assists in the preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
    • Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering.
  • Experience in power system simulation software such as ETAP, DigSilent or PSSE CAD
  • Electrical Engineering degree (Member of Engineers Australia or eligible for membership as MIEAust)
  • Member of professional institution e.g. IEAust, IET
