Description:
The Education Officer – Curriculum and Pedagogy (K-8)/(5-12) will:
- Collaborate within and across the Learning and Wellbeing Team to provide expert advice in curriculum and pedagogy, across a range of KLAs, based on contemporary research, system and school data, and through professional relationships with experts and associations.
- Support school leaders to prepare for the implementation of reformed syllabuses.
- Advise schools on quality pedagogy matched with curriculum to collaboratively develop strategies and teaching resources to enable high quality practice that impact learning.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate the impact of support provided to schools to inform ongoing improvement.
- Develop teacher and school leader capability in the analysis and use of assessment data to improve student learning outcomes across all Key Learning Areas.
- Facilitate appropriate, evidence-based support to school leaders and teachers at a diocesan, network or school level to support improved learner outcomes.
- Co-design and co-deliver professional learning, online and face-to-face, to strengthen evidence-based teaching practice across the curriculum areas.
- Build the capability of school-based leaders to provide high quality support that leads to embedded and sustained high quality teaching practice and improved student outcomes, ensuring the development and use of discipline-specific literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills.

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools
- Demonstrated ability to model effective classroom practice, observe teachers and provide feedback
- Commitment to inclusive education and familiarity with the MTSS.
- Demonstrated ability to improve student learning outcomes through data-driven, evidence-informed practice
- Familiarity with, and the ability to analyse, a range of student data including:
- K-8: NAPLAN (tools include SCOUT, CED3) and ACER PAT and CogAT
- 5-12: HSC (DeCourcy, RAP), NAPLAN (tools include SCOUT, CED3) and ACER PAT and CogAT.
- Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders and work collaboratively within and across teams.
- Capacity to harness digital tools to develop and deliver innovative programs and services
- Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement strategic initiatives and innovative practices that support educational change for improved student learning outcomes
- Capacity to deliver services across the diocese (Taree – Merriwa – Swansea), including overnight travel.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year trained teacher classification (BEd)
- Active NESA Accreditation
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
- Current (NSW) Drivers Licence
- Experience in a formal educational leadership position and/or other relevant positions appropriate to the role (desireable).
- Postgraduate educational qualifications at Master level, or willingness to commence such study (desireable).
- Coaching accreditation (desireable).
