This role develops and delivers programming to children and young people (aged 6-25 years) across the library service. Programs include regular after-school activities, as well as larger special events, designed to support learning, a love of reading and social connection. This position is also responsible for managing the Young Adult Non-Fiction Collection across our library branches and for promoting community engagement with these collections via in branch displays, programming, outreach activities and social media.

A further key focus of the Education and Youth Librarian role involves building and maintaining partnerships with internal council partners, local schools and community organisations to develop innovative offerings for the Wyndham Community and promote library participation by young people.

In addition to the duties above, you will be rostered for regular customer service shifts and work on a variety of projects at your home library branch.

This role is primarily based at Hoppers Crossing Library, however you may be required to work from other locations. You may also be required to work from home occasionally, including delivering programs online.

This position has a weekly late finish at 8pm on Thursdays and requires working a Saturday morning customer service shift once every twelve weeks. Some events and programs will require occasional evening or weekend work and a willingness to vary your schedule from time-to-time is essential.

The anticipated start date for this role will be in the new year (mid Jan 2023), however a later start date will also be considered.

  • Strong project management skills
  • A tertiary degree in Librarianship/Information Management or an alternative relevant field, such as Education or Community Development
  • A current Victorian Working with Children Check
