The Role:

• Telephone consult and retrieval coordination service:
  • 24-hour clinical advice for Ambulance Tasmania (AT) paramedics.
  • Medical retrieval coordination.
• Direct clinical care:
  • Medical care, including procedures, for adult and paediatric patients during primary (pre-hospital) and secondary (inter-hospital) medical retrieval missions by road, helicopter and fixed-wing platforms.
  • Scene medical responses to major incidents and disasters.
• Coordinate and develop medical education and training within Critical Care and Retrieval (CCR), including but not limited to:
  • Developing and advancing strategic planning, including opportunities for inter-professional learning.
  • Coordinating efforts towards obtaining and retaining accreditation for specialist training programs.
  • Coordination and provision of ongoing professional development for clinicians.
  • Coordination of multidisciplinary simulated-based teaching.
• Coordinate interviews and selection processes for medical staff.
• Assist the Medical Director in the coordination, administration and evaluation of Critical Care Services.
• Act in the position of Medical Director CCR as required in addition to being delegated as required.
