Description:

We are currently recruiting for a ‘Director Project Evaluation’, this role will report into the Senior Director of Project Execution . The role will see you collaborating with Project Execution Services (PES) team to standardize project financial analysis guidelines, project management, and reporting policies and collaborating with regional financial.

The position is also responsible for preparing, monitoring, analyzing, and reviewing Investment Evaluation Models (IEM) in order to provide consistent and comparable financial metrics to PES team; outputs are used in global project reporting and in order to allow the corporation to make timely and informed investment decisions.

You will Support Study/Project Directors with stage gate deliverables; Investment Evaluation Model (IEM) and Basis of Estimate preparation, including a wide variety of duties necessary to drive continuous improvement of business services to include project accounting practices, external project metric reporting and messaging,

In This Role, You Will
 

  • Prepare Life of Mine financial models for all Projects which report directly to the SVP, Projects. Support other Study/Project Directors as necessary. Coordinate with various functional leads to collect and record financial inputs; to include but not limited to mine planning, project controls, reclamation, operations sustaining capital, processing, etc.
  • Build complex site models which incorporate and track the synergies and benefits of multiple investment opportunities.
  • Work with cross-functional team to ensure financial modelling accuracy; mine planning, processing, tax, regional/site G&A, water and tailings, closure planning, infrastructure engineering, tax, etc.
  • Work closely with accounting to appropriately classify the type of expenditure and commercial production criteria for major investments.
  • Monitor and analyze changes to financial metrics across the global project portfolio in order to present Investments which are consistent and comparable; perform QA/QC of IEM, Basis of Estimate, and Investment Review Paper prior to submittal to the Value Assurance team for gate review.
  • Monitor and control project financial metrics for internal and external financial reporting; Monthly Dashboards, Project Performance Review, gate submittals, and Investor Relations.
  • Support Project Investment Reviews to update executives and/or Board of Directors on the status of major capital investments: Project Execution Review, End of Execution Review, Post Investment Reviews.
     

Who You Are
 

  • Minimum of B.S. degree in business, finance, mine engineering or related discipline; Masters/MBA degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Requires 8-10 years of progressive experience, preferably in a mining environment or natural resources company, and management experience with multi-functional, broad-based management responsibilities.
  • Knowledge/experience in business, financial management, accounting, and tax planning.
  • Project management expertise inclusive of planning, managing, project execution, project controls, valuation, risk analysis, change management/trends, report generation and stochastic simulation.
  • Ability to manage projects and team leadership skills required.
  • Experience working with and EPCM contractor in a mining or mega project focus.
  • PMP certification or other project management training a plus
  • International experience, exposure and breadth is important.
