The Residential Experience Division delivers on The Australian National University (ANU) strategic priorities relating to on-campus student accommodation. The team works closely with a number of areas across the University to provide a safe and welcoming environment to enable students to achieve their highest academic outcomes. The Division facilitates and supports a culture of collegiality and engagement amongst hall staff and students, across and beyond ANU and ensures halls are inclusive, open, and respectful and reflect the diversity of our nation and the globe.
Reporting to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (International and Corporate), the Director, Residential Experience provides strategic advice on the residential experience portfolio and works closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) and leaders in the broader portfolio including the Registrar and Master, University House. Other key partners include the University Experience Division (student safety, well-being support and clinical services), Facilities and Services, academic colleges and service partners such as finance and information technology.
The Director provides effective leadership and management to the heads of the residential and non-residential halls, ensures excellence and consistency in the provision of pastoral and academic support for all residential students. The Director will lead, develop and deliver effective strategy to meet University strategic targets and objectives for Accommodation Services and Residential and non-Residential Halls and contribute to the development, implementation and systematic review of operational plans and systems initiatives.
A focus on continuous improvement in service delivery and policy development will be important in this role, as is compliance with legislation and responsiveness to changing Higher Education sector trends and government initiatives. As Director, Residential Experience, you will be part of the University’s critical response team and will maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including University leaders, relevant student bodies and others within the ANU community with a close interest in student services issues. Strong capability in the management and negotiation of contracts with external vendors associated with the delivery of services to student accommodation is essential. Relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience within a similar environment are important.
