Description:
We are seeking a Digital Mission Systems Engineer with applied digital engineering (DE)/model-based engineering (MBE) experience to join our team to provide advanced engineering, modeling, and simulation (M&S), integration capabilities to support our complex missions. In this position, you will use your knowledge of systems engineering and model-based engineering processes, methods, tools, and program roles to help develop, implement, and deploy digital engineering solutions and services for use on individual programs and across the sponsor enterprise. This role will be based in Canberra, ACT reporting to the Managing Director of MITRE | Australia.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Digital Mission Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn, apply, and continuously improve current Digital Engineering practices to capture stakeholder and system requirements, facilitate discussion and understand digital environments, and enhance the digital engineering culture. Some of the specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting MITRE teams that are assisting government leaders in implementing and adopting Digital Engineering (DE) and Model Based Engineering (MBE) practices and tools.
- Contributing to the development of systems engineering models that enable government customers to make informed decisions about acquisitions, requirements, design, and execution of a program and/or systems.
- Conducting analysis of current government implementations of DE/MBE efforts and identifying improvements in digital engineering adoption, execution, and sustainment.
- Apply strategic systems engineering, model-based engineering, and digital engineering methods to apply and solve current and emerging digital engineering challenges for the Australian.
- Provide creative thought leadership to further mature and develop revolutionary digital engineering solutions consisting of people, process, and tools to advance the state-of-the art digital and mission engineering solutions to complex programs for Australia.
- Continue to build and strengthen international relationships through technology collaboration and common interest between countries to provide a safer world!
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or relevant technical discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one technical discipline area with demonstrated application of technical skills in relevant defense/government domains.
- Experience using modern model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., CATIA Magic, CATIA No Magic, DOORS, Rhapsody, Innoslate, etc.) and modeling architectures of complex systems of systems using standards-based languages (ex. SysML).
- Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a challenging, dynamic, fast paced Evaluating and comparing alternative system of systems architectures using qualitative and quantitative trade space analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to execute technical work in complex, muti-disciplinary and ambiguous situations.
- Strong written, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
- Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) within six months of employment.
