About the opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree, commencing their third year in 2022 specialising in Civil Engineering, who will commit to a two-year, part-time role.
Working within the Development Services team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build skills and experience and contribute to the provision of professional development engineering input relating to development and subdivision matters. In this role, you will provide high quality, professional and accurate support to all members of the Development Services team while displaying a positive image, sound judgement, initiative and timeliness.
You will also be required to:
- Assess the following applications in accordance with statutory requirements, delegations and Council's codes and policies; and prepare comment and appropriate recommendation: Development Applications, Section 4.55 Applications, Section 8.2 Applications, Civil Construction Certificates/Subdivision Works Certificates and S.138 Road Act Applications;
- Carry out inspections relating to civil works undertaken by developers;
- Provide preliminary professional development engineering advice for internal and external stakeholders; and
- Respond to correspondence, action complaints and maintain accurate records in accordance with Council's service level standards using Council's Customer Request Management System.
About you
To be successful in this position, you must have:
- Enrolled in and currently studying a Bachelor degree qualification in civil engineering or other relevant equivalent tertiary qualification, with eligibility for acceptance to Engineers Australia upon completion;
- Successful completion of a minimum of two (2) years full-time study, or equivalent, in the above mentioned degree and satisfactory academic achievement in current undergraduate studies;
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise work within an environment of competing demands;
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and
- Current Class C unrestricted drivers licence.
Remuneration:
Salary as per the Local Government (State) Award plus 10% superannuation
