Description:
As Development Engineer you will be part of the Engineering Planning team and will be responsible for Engineering Assessment of Development Applications. Your main focus will be on Review of Engineering documentation and set engineering requirements for development applications as part of Engineering Planning assessment to achieve relevant outcomes complying with relevant standards.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide engineering requirements for development applications
- Review engineering documentation and set engineering requirements and construction standards for development activities
- Perform audit inspection, surveillance and quality control of civil engineering works associated with development activities where required
- Use delegated authority and experience, exercise judgement, consult and negotiate on development matters with developers, consultants and members of the general public to achieve optimum development outcomes for Council and the community
- Provide expert engineering advice and assistance to technical staff within the Branch, other areas of Council’s operations, developers, consultants and the general public
- Contribute to the development and review of engineering policy relating to development matters, and the establishment of operational procedures within Engineering and Environment Branch’s areas of interest

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering leading to eligibility for graduate membership with Engineers Australia
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Previous experience in Development Engineering is essential
- knowledge in relation to local government civil engineering practices and land development is desirable
- Substantial interpersonal skills, communication (both oral and written), negotiation and dispute resolution skills, to enable effective communication with Council’s clients (including members of the public), Councillors, other senior officers, subordinate staff and representatives of various Government Departments and other authorities
- A pre-employment medical will be required for this role.
