Swinburne has embarked on a bold new strategy, Horizon 2025, focused on building the prototype of a new and different university with Technology. The DVC Education, Employability and Experience will provide strategic leadership on education matters relating to student administration, learning transformations, student engagement, employability and library services.
The DVC will bring the vision, passion, and energy to lead and inspire a world-class academic institution that enables students to enjoy innovative and flexible learning options, diverse and dynamic partnership opportunities, and an integrated digital and campus learning environment. They will help deliver a distinctive Swinburne student experience that empowers students through rich learning experiences, incorporating work integrated learning, and support for graduates to obtain employment through career support and lifelong learning.
About you

- Demonstrated leadership ability and academic credibility to engage a variety of stakeholders across the University’s networks;
- Business acumen to deliver efficient and effective services, complex initiatives, and projects;
- An appropriate record of education leadership and management experience commensurate with being part of a high performing university leadership team;
- Outstanding communication skills and a data-led approach to decision making;
- The ability to influence, inspire, think creatively and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibility Areas will include:
Strategy
- Support the continued execution of Horizon 2025 and the implementation of Swinburne’s Education strategy through the continuous evolution government, employability Strategy, including Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Blended Learning.
- Build and maintain Swinburne’s profile nationally and internationally by establishing and developing strategic alliances, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships particularly with industry internships, and enhance the University’s reputation in Education, Employability and Student Experience.
- Lead the successful implementation of the Student Experience Framework across the University.
Leadership
- Foster the development of innovative, high quality WIL programs and industry-based learning to ensure the attraction and retention of all students domestically and internationally.
- In collaboration with the Executive Group and other senior executives, build and maintain a proactive engagement strategy with industry, government, and alumni to deliver work experience and employability skills to all Swinburne learners from vocational education through to postgraduate research.
- In close collaboration with Swinburne’s Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor (SDVC) and Chief Academic Officer, create an environment of innovation and excellence by increasing opportunities for industry-based learning and enhancing graduate employment outcomes.
- Ability to influence and mobilize academic units to ensure that employability is a key feature of all programs (HE and VET).
- Contribute effectively to Academic Senate to ensure the provision of high-quality academic programs.
- In collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), capacity to shape and transform our campus to offer a compelling learning and belonging experience.
