The Legal Team is a key adviser and partner to the business, helping to navigate the AEMO Group’s complex environments by providing trusted and valuable counsel and legal services.
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance and Technology lawyer to support AEMO’s Data Strategy and Research Partnership Strategy.
Key Accountabilities Include
What you will be doing
- Drafting and negotiating appropriate data sharing agreements with research/academic institutions and government to support the delivery of AEMO’s prioritised power system research engagement strategy (including power system modelling and planning and distributed energy resource integration).
- Drafting internal data governance guidelines and processes.
- Advising on and drafting and negotiating appropriate agreements with vendors to support new projects to implement AEMO’s Cyber Security Strategy and AEMO’s Data Strategy.
- Advising on AEMO’s privacy, security, and confidentiality obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (Cth) and energy legislation.
- Drafting and negotiating Master Supplier Agreements, statements of work, and other agreements to support AEMO’s technology procurement.
- Advising on the legal aspects of complex procurement processes, including probity and drafting tender documentation.
Role
What you will bring to the role
- Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor, flexible but targeting 5 plus years’ PQE
- Proven in depth knowledge and demonstrated experience advising on contract law, research and funding agreements, procurement, technology, IP, privacy, data management and governance and cyber security, project delivery (including Agile), and commercial pricing and licensing constructs.
- Experience in delivery of large technology projects and managing complex procurement and contracting processes.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and innovation in solving complex legal and commercial problems to drive business outcomes, including frequently recurring issues.
