Description:

The role of the Curriculum Assistant – The Arts/IT Assistant is to perform those tasks necessary for the teaching staff to implement the Arts & IT curriculum. In order to achieve this, the Curriculum Assistant – The Arts/IT Assistant will work under the supervision of the Head of Arts/Technology.

The Curriculum Assistant – The Arts/IT Assistant will provide direct support to teachers in the preparation, delivery and pack up of class materials.

To assist with the preparation and delivery of equipment and materials for the Arts/IT Learning Area, maintaining control of equipment and the storerooms in order to support the Arts/IT curriculum throughout the College in line with The Victorian Curriculum and VCAA study designs.

Performs technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or artistic principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options.

  • Preparing and using the Laser Cutter, 3D Printer and Cricut to print student work for assessment.
  • Preparation/Maintenance of chemicals, including relevant safety data sheets
  • Maintenance and servicing of Media equipment such as digital cameras, film equipment, cameras, enlargers, lighting equipment etc.
  • Preparation of art materials for classes, i.e. paint, clay, adhesives, and other art & technology supplies for use in the classroom.
  • Maintenance of Computing & Robotics equipment
  • eneral cleaning of the Art/IT classrooms and storerooms
  • Assist with a large range of general tasks related to the maintenance and functioning of subjects within The Arts/IT Learning Area to enable teachers to focus on the needs of the students and implement teaching and learning programs
  • Regularly maintain and keep in good order storerooms, classrooms and equipment in collaboration with The Arts/IT Learning Area staff
  • Comply with OHS responsibilities, standards and codes of practice relating to departmental resources, including the ongoing documentation of Safety Data Sheets and chemical registers (as required)
  • Assist with the stocktake of materials and equipment
  • Prepare orders and quotes of materials and equipment
  • Provide notification of the arrival of materials and equipment to specific staff
  • Assist in the organisation of the annual Arts Exhibitions
  • Assist in the organisation of materials such as props, costumes and sets for the annual School Production
  • As needed, assist with mounting, preparation, and display of work in classrooms and around the school
  • Assist additional Learning Areas as required
  • Other duties as directed by the Learning Area Leader and Principal Team
  • NB: These responsibilities will be reviewed on a regular basis in consultation with the Learning Area Leader, Principal Team and successful applicant
