Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain open and effective communication and working relationships between Council, other council departments and the community for the implementation of key cultural development projects, for example, our Create a Place project and major art pieces.

The organisation of cultural development events/activities including:


  • Event coordination and lead for some of our key events including but not limited to – Vietnam Veterans Ceremony, Writers’ Festival, liaison for Harmony Day activities and curation of Watershed Creative Prize Exhibition;
  • Project management of community arts projects;
  • Organisation of the annual exhibition program for the John Harvey Community Hall and other council exhibition spaces;
  • Administration of key working parties established for various cultural development projects;
  • Attraction of resources via the preparation of funding applications and sponsorship approaches.
  • Responsible for the management of the Council Artist Register.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for collaboration and partnerships with agencies and community organisations.
  • Preparation of artists briefs, sponsorship proposals and funding applications to support the City’s cultural and arts agenda.
  • Working with budgetary restraints within the public art budget.
