The Early Childhood Education and School Policy Directorate drives strategic policy and program development across NSW children’s education journey - from their first day in early learning to their last day at High School.
Working in the Cultures and Languages Team in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Early Education and Care area, you will work collaboratively across the team and beyond to lead the development and implementation of the Cultural Responsiveness Framework for Early Childhood Outcomes and the Quality and Regulatory body in Early Childhood Education.

The key goal of the framework is to increase the Cultural Capability of staff and ensure the effective implementation of Cultural Responsiveness strategies at the team and systems level in Early Childhood areas of the Department. This leadership opportunity will also be responsible for supporting 35 new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff in identified and targeted roles across the new ECO division, through the implementation of co-designed retention strategies.   • A valid Working with Children Check
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience
  • Experience working with First Nation’s communities and strong understanding of issues that impact First Nation’s communities
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
