DRD Group are seeking a Cost Estimation Engineer to join our client working on Green Energy Projects in Western Australia.
This particular role will be involved in Heavy industry on projects involving rail and mining, reporting to the Heavy Industry Integration Principal Engineer.
About the role;
- Conduct comprehensive cost analyses of existing products and processes to identify areas for cost reduction and value enhancement.
- Apply value engineering principles to optimize product designs, processes, and materials, ensuring improved performance and functionality while reducing overall costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, to brainstorm and implement cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend alternative materials, manufacturing methods, and technologies to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Work closely with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, reduce material costs, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
- Assess and optimize manufacturing processes for increased efficiency and reduced production costs.
- Conduct lifecycle cost analyses, considering the entire product lifecycle from manufacturing to end-of-life.
- Identify potential risks associated with cost reduction strategies and propose effective risk mitigation measures.
- Maintain detailed documentation of cost analyses, design changes, and improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
About you;
- Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Cost, Systems or related field).
- 5+ years of relevant experience in VA/VE or Cost Engineering in the product development industry
- Strong technical skills with proficiency in engineering principles, design processes and manufacturing techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience in supplier relationship management.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to product design and manufacturing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and the ability to develop cost models.
- A continuous learner with a proactive approach to staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
