Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Recruitment and L&OD Consultant to join our People & Development team in our Canberra office. In this role you will play a crucial part in our graduate and lateral recruitment processes, as well as contributing to our Learning & Organisational Development initiatives.

As the Recruitment & L&OD Consultant, you will lead the way in our efforts to attract, select and develop top talent from universities. Your responsibilities will include fostering relationships with high-performing university students, end to end recruitment and guiding them through our clerk and graduate programs. Additionally, you will be a trusted advisor to our partners, managers and employees for not only lateral recruitment but also in support of our broader People & Development team.

Beyond recruitment, you will be responsible for our L&OD efforts in the Canberra office. You will provide advice on the design, implementation and evaluation of learning initiatives for the firm supporting our Canberra office. Lead or contribute to national Learning and OD projects in talent management and organisational development.

Day to day duties will include but will not be limited to:
 

  • Develop, lead and execute attraction and selection strategies for our graduate & clerkship Program.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with law schools, faculty, and student organizations, representing the firm at events.
  • Manage the full cycle, end to end recruitment process for our clerkship and graduate programs including screening applications, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
  • Oversee the clerk and graduate programs, including leading rotations, evaluation processes and supporting the professional growth and development of graduates.
  • Build strong relationships with the business (Partners, Special Counsel, Senior Associates and Lawyers) that are involved in the clerkship and graduate processes.
  • Service as the technical lead on recruitment, supporting the business to find the best talent in the market.
  • Develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to engage with passive top talent as well as active job seekers.
  • Collaborate with the business to identify the most engaging selection process for the candidate and the hiring manager.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate learning & development offerings that align with and support the needs of the individual, team and firm.
  • Facilitate and coordinate induction and learning for clerks and graduates, lawyers and business advisory services employees.
  • Understand the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for all lawyers and provide advice on the application of these requirements.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with business leaders and stakeholders to support the effective and efficient operation of the L&OD function.
     

Skills And Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
 

  • 2+ years' experience in a recruitment and/or L&OD role.
  • Experience in legal industry or professional services (desirable).
  • An exceptional ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and organisation skills.
  • High attention to detail.
