The opportunity
We are looking for a Consultant to join our Strategy and Transactions Defence team in Melbourne. Our team is focussed on commercial and corporate finance advisory business across the Department, industry, and investor community. This role is offered on a flexible full-time basis.
As an SaT Defence professional you will

• Work alongside Partners and Directors on complex policy, strategy and transaction questions
• Work with the national team across procurement and commercial advice projects, from buying new solider combat systems and weapons, acquiring new and upgrading existing aircraft platforms,
• We have also done work advising Defence on the role of debt and equity needs within the nascent industry sector as well as understanding how well Defence’s export strategy is performing
• Balance client service delivery methods between embedded roles at the client site and virtual delivery teams working collaboratively on client transactions

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, the following will be beneficial:

• Have demonstrated commercial nous with 1-2 years’ experience in commercial advisory and/or transaction/project management
• Prior experience in complex procurement and /or corporate finance, ideally in Utilities, Resources, Infrastructure or Transport with an eagerness to grow Defence domain experience and interest
• An existing Australian Government security clearance or an ability and willingness to obtain one in short order
• Be capable of operating in an integrated contractor and Commonwealth Team
