Summary

A consultant on the Investment Operations Outsourcing (IOO) will have broad, in-depth knowledge of the business and acts as the first point of reference for day-to-day queries as well as serves as a liaison to related areas. The consultant will work on relatively complex, high profile activities and projects involving committees and/or senior management and clients. Focus areas include maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures, while building towards becoming an area expert. This role will report to the Manager of Transitions and Reconciliations within the IOO Australia group.

What You Will Do

The consultant operates under general supervision but works independently most of the time and:

  • Responsible for providing client service through the execution of daily functions and tasks within the Investment Operations Outsourcing Team
  • Liaising with clients, market counterparties and other business areas to clear and investigate issues through to resolution for the explanation of these to clients as well as acting as a liaison with client service teams to drive issue resolution.
  • Responsible for providing timely response to queries and finding resolution to avoid repetitive actions.
  • Responsible for oversight of offshore production of operational activity across middle office records.
  • Track all issues by managing operational logs with offshore teams, working with them to remediate all service issues encountered with a proposed plan for resolution
  • Able to identify opportunities for improvement within existing process and/or technology applications while acting as a liaison with partner areas to drive resolution.
  • Understand and responsible in enhancing and maintaining operating procedures and controls, and cross train on other functions as well as provide back up
  • Responsible for understanding client’s business needs and deliverables, including working on fund launches and transition activity events across a range of middle office and fund administration services.
  • Ensure accurate execution of planned transition event activity through all Northern Trust services, reviews event for accuracy and provides sign off to client.
  • Establish, build & maintain effective working relationships with key partners internal and external to the organization, and drive the engagement of other partners as appropriate to solve client inquiries/issues.
  • Understand reconciliations of daily cash and stock positions across middle office and custody book using TLM Premium (Smart Stream application) to ensure accurate portfolio holdings are available to traders and portfolio managers
  • Identify potential risk items and exposure on a timely basis with a view to close these areas of risk
  • Understand client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are directly related to job function(s)
  • Assisting with build, completion and delivery of monthly internal and client KPIs, as well as production of daily & monthly MIS for senior management
  • Ensuring correct control procedures are adhered to and a full audit trail is recorded and maintained at all times
