Description:
The Capability Department of Victoria Police enhances both service delivery and community safety through proactively identifying, developing, and implementing organisational and frontline support strategies, initiatives, and reforms.
The Priority and Safer Communities Division (PSCD) in Capability Department supports the organisational capability and confidence to deliver a policing service which is responsive and respectful to community needs.
This role within PSCD will have responsibility for work within the LGBTIQ+ Communities Portfolio, which aims to increase organisational capability to respond to community needs. The position requires leadership and drive to further improve the relationship between Victoria Police and LGBTIQ+ identifying community members both internal and external to the organisation. This includes managing the program of works as part of the organisation's legislative responsibilities and policies, leading a program of work to improve frontline service delivery, and contributing to other initiatives to deliver on the strategic goals of the division.
The successful applicant will be required to engage with key stakeholders across the organisation, external government and community agencies and will work within a team of both sworn police members and VPS employees.

- Managing organisational deliverables within the current strategic objectives, policy, and ongoing plans
- Coordinating and drafting Victoria Police responses to government enquiries, commissions, reviews, and other external requests, in consultation with internal Victoria Police stakeholders and external government departments
- Providing subject matter expertise to a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally to Victoria Police
- Undertaking research as required to provide informed risk analysis and mitigation strategies
- Drafting of briefings and advice to Victoria Police Executive Command and key Government stakeholders
- Leading the development of organisational positions relating to community policing
- Leading projects strategically aligned to the direction of the Division and Victoria Police, developed in consultation with Community Stakeholders as well as Regional and Departmental Commands
- Promoting and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including LGBTIQ+ allies and identifying members of the Victorian community
- Contributing to divisional objectives and priorities
- Maintaining contemporary knowledge of community related issues across Victoria public and private sectors to ensure a timely response to emerging issues, and providing subject matter expertise across the organisation to ensure consistency and compliance with established standards and process
- Strong strategic thinking and policy development skills

- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
