Communications Technician

In This Role You Will
 

  • Meet maintenance and production objectives by ensuring all maintenance and installation works are carried out.
  • Complete communication infrastructure maintenance or installation tasks.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up of new installations.
  • Act as a technical reference point and mentor to other personnel within the department.
  • Implement minor software / hardware / graphic interface changes in accordance with site standards, operating procedures, tools and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and vendors to develop solutions and seek resolution to complex communication problems.
  • Assist in the development of operational and functional procedures related to systems within area of responsibility.
     

About You
 

  • Trade level qualifications in Communications, Electronics or Electronic Systems.
  • Open Cabler Registration with Structured, Optical Fibre, Coaxial endorsements.
  • Significant experience with mining communication software and hardware installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis on systems and equipment including, but not limited to VHF & UHF Systems, Leaky Feeder radio system, PED, Cap Lamps, MST Vehicle Proximity Systems, fibre optic splicing and commissioning, CCTV, and a sound knowledge of IP Network planning and configuration.
  • Ability to lead work teams (sub-contractors) and apply analytical thinking to problem solve.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to read complex electrical drawings.
  • Current Australian C class, manual driver’s licence.
  • Working at Heights ticket and EWP licence (desirable).
