Communications & Engagement Officer

Our client is a Newcastle-based communications consultancy, with a combined experience of more than 50 years; servicing clients across a range of industries. The organisation has gone from strength to strength, with no sign of slowing. As a result of this growth and some large-scale project work, they are now looking for a Communications & Community Engagement Consultant to join them initially on a 12-month fixed-term, part-time basis, however, there is a great opportunity for extension and/or permanency.

Both full-time and part-time options may be considered.

This is a client-facing position, and you will be offered the opportunity to work on some of the Hunter Region's most interesting and exciting projects.

In addition to producing a range of communication and engagement materials across a range of projects from newsletters to social media posts and advertising materials, you also will work with the senior members of the team to assist with providing community engagement consultation and management of community relationships.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to;

• Assisting in the development and implementation of communications and engagement strategies and plans to support projects and business cases
• Contributing as part of a team to deliver innovative and engaging communications material and content
• Building trust and working collaboratively with stakeholders and experts both internal and external to sustain improvement and change
• Exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear messages
• Experience in stakeholder engagement; ideally within infrastructure or government (desirable)
• IAP2 certification (desirable)
• The ability to multi-task and organise others to deliver outcomes
• Digital awareness and social project and or programme experience
