The Brand, Marketing and Recruitment (BMR) division exists for the purpose of showcasing the best of UWA, ultimately enhancing reputation and driving student recruitment. The division consolidates all marketing, communications and future student related activity into one team, enabling efficiency and effectiveness gains for the University.

The Corporate Communications team within BMR exists to deliver professional, strategic and best practice communications and engagement activities across the University, as the lead group for the University’s engagement with the media, staff and key internal and external stakeholders. This is facilitated through the provision of strategic advice and the effective management of a range of communication channels.

You will work to deliver and support University-wide communications services. The role will provide a range of communication advice and support, in line with university strategy, to key internal and external clients and will coordinate a range of communication channels.

A key component of this role will be to drive digital engagement with the newly upgraded Staff Intranet and the weekly University-wide internal staff newsletter, UWA Forward.

You will demonstrate solid experience in internal communications, advanced writing and editing skills for various kinds of strategic communications deliverables, and expertise creating content for a large internal audience with multiple stakeholder priorities.

The role will work closely with members of the Corporate Communications and BMR teams to provide an integrated approach to internal and external communications, issues and strategies, and ensure best practice communications processes are maintained for all internal channels.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent competency (degree in communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent).
  • Substantial relevant experience working in a varied communications / public relations role. Internal communications experience in a fast-paced communications team is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative and work as part of a team
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience in producing high-quality. communication materials such as e-newsletters, intranet and web content, social media content, briefing notes, correspondence and presentations.
  • Highly developed organisational skills to effectively plan and implement communication programs and projects and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong experience liaising and building positive working relationships with a wide range of people in a large organisation, to confidently identify and facilitate opportunities that result in a strategic and integrated communications.
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills and experience in the use of the web as a communications medium. SharePoint and Sitecore experience highly desirable
  • Proven competency in providing insights, analytics and reporting on digital communications channels.
