The opportunity:
Looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact on early-life development research? Look no further than the Barwon Infant Study (BIS)! We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Cohort Data Manager, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the BIS database to facilitate effective utilization of our vast array of data, including questionnaires, clinical exam results, blood test results, and "omic" measures derived from biospecimens.
As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in maintaining the current database and enhancing it as new data comes in from new waves of field work or related projects. Your role will be central to ensuring that our researchers can make the most of the wealth of data we have collected, as we investigate the role of specific environmental factors, gut microbiota, and epigenetic variation in early-life development.
The Barwon Infant Study (BIS) is a population-derived birth cohort study conducted in the south-east of Australia. With antenatal recruitment and a detailed mechanistic investigation of development within an epidemiological framework, BIS is a unique and ground-breaking study. Participants have been reviewed at birth, at 1, 6, 9 and 12 months, and at 2 and 4 years, with biological samples and measures including maternal blood, faeces and urine during pregnancy, infant urine, faeces and blood at regular intervals during the first 4 years, and much more.
This position is offered part time at 1.5 days per week and would suit a student undertaking a higher degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or related discipline. While remote work may be involved, we would prefer that you are based in the Geelong area, near the Geelong University Hospital, for at least 1 day a week. This will allow for greater collaboration and in-person communication with our team, as well as the opportunity to connect with other professionals in your field.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class team at the forefront of early-life development research. Join the team today!
Your responsibilities include:
Maintenance of the BIS database
Incorporation of new data and metadata into the BIS database
