The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. The specialist groups within DDI consist of Technology Solutions and Evidence and Insights.

Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services.

Evidence and Insights leads the DJCS data reporting, analytics and modelling program, outcomes measurement and evaluation services. It includes the Crime Statistics Agency and National Coronial Information System.

The Cloud Architect role is part of the Cloud Centre of Excellence (COE) and is responsible for ensuring the secure design and delivery of Cloud solutions based on customer requirements. A Cloud Architect is responsible for designing and building scalable, available and secure architecture solutions, based on Architectural standards, availability of services, cost, network, security, storage and governance considerations.

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Expert knowledge of, and demonstrated experience within a large ICT environment, of cloud-based platform and application architecture practice, leading to successful ICT improvement or transformation creating realised business value.
  • Significant, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of cloud-based platform and application architecture best practices and knowledge of new or emerging technologies and their potential value to the organisation.
  • Significant change management and leadership skills in delivering continuous service and product improvement, utilising demonstrated cloud-based platform and application architecture skills.
  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Specialist in Cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges.
  • Knowledge of AWS Well Architected Framework and Cloud migration industry standards and best practices.
  • Prior programming background in at least ONE language: C++, Java, Python, Ruby etc.
  • Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures.
  • Experience designing available, cost efficient, fault tolerant, and scalable distributed systems
  • Experience in Architecting and building IaaS and PaaS solutions
  • Deep hands-on experience in leading the design, development and deployment of business software at scale
  • Deep hands-on experience of technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualisation
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, automated application deployment, monitoring/telemetry, logging, reporting/dashboarding, and continuous delivery technologies.
  • Extensive experience with orchestration template technologies.
  • Experience performing security assessments.
