Description:
Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) is seeking an enthusiastic and capable FACEM to lead and develop an outstanding Emergency Department. GV Health is committed to becoming a regional centre for excellence in emergency care, and has taken the initial steps to achieve this: a new department and an established & growing professional team.
We are now recruiting a Director to take the department to its next phase.
You will have strong leadership skills and be the type of person our team will respect and follow. You will be an excellent clinician, communicator and carer. You will have a personality that equips you to fit into a department and hospital that is reinventing itself, and you will enjoy contributing. You will be a respected, established and experienced leader with a track record demonstrating capability, innovation, fairness and integrity. You will have expertise in Clinical Governance and Management.
GV Health is the main health service and largest employer in the Goulburn Valley Region employing over 2500 staff. GV Health is an important regional emergency service – with over 36,000 annual attendances and a varied and very interesting case mix, including regional trauma and paediatric services. Typical of regional settings, the hospital has little of the bureaucracy of large centres and has reasonable patient flow and access. Salary and conditions are above award and are generous, reflecting the developmental phase of our emergency services rebuild. The Clinical Director will have access to 50% non-clinical time.
Relocation assistance is provided and travel compensation and accommodation are available. You will also receive support from our local Community Connector to facilitate your and/or your partner’s/family’s relocation to the Goulburn Valley region and assimilation into our community as well as support to create meaningful opportunities to connect with others in the region so that you not only feel welcome but will eventually call Greater Shepparton home.
Emergency Department: The redevelopment in our ED is now complete. The new state of the art facility offers a fresh new space to work within and offers 36 treatment spaces with nine short stay beds, four paediatric emergency beds and four flex beds as well as a dedicated CT, Imaging and Mental Health spaces.
Leadership: GV Health has undergone many changes in recent years with new and progressive leaders at CEO, CMO, executive and divisional levels.
A focus on building a high performing ED team– roles recently sourced include:
Critical Care: A newly built 10 bed ICU, accredited for training. Currently recruiting Intensivists. FACEM joint appointments or fractional ICU placement is an option.
Senior Medical Staff Development: GV Health has recently recruited an additional DMS with a focus on organisational improvement strategies and patient flow improvement.
