Child Rights Technical Advisor

MCRI’s Global Health Strategic Initiative is part of a global effort to place children and adolescents at the centre of sustainable development and the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our research has global reach, with program implementation focused in the Indo-Pacific region.

We collaborate with the World Health Organisation, governments in the Indo-Pacific, research institutes, universities, health care services and non-government organisations to contribute to child and adolescent health.

We're looking for a Child Safety and Child Rights Technical Advisor (Global Health). In this role, you'll play a crucial part in providing technical guidance and strengthening policies, procedures, and systems for child safety within our Global Health Strategic Initiative.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Championing Child Safety: Be a voice for the rights of children and adolescents, ensuring child safety and child rights are embedded in our collaborations, research, and programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
• Policy Implementation: Lead the way in translating our commitment to child safety into actionable policies and procedures.
• Global Impact: Work with us on a pilot project designed to actively engage children, young people, and their families and communities in research priority setting in an LMIC.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide technical guidance and implement high-quality child safety policies, procedures and systems to ensure compliance with DFAT accreditation standards and ACFID Code of Conduct requirements
• Undertake child safety risk monitoring, management, reporting and review activities within the Global Health Strategic Initiative. This includes supporting research and program teams to conduct child safety risk assessments to identify potential risks in project activities and work with teams to develop mitigating measures and actions
• Support research and program teams to mainstream child safety in research and program design, monitoring, evaluation and learning within the Global Health Strategic Initiative
• Support MCRI’s People & Culture, Legal, Finance and Communications Teams to implement safeguarding policy and procedures in activities under the Global Health Strategic Initiative
