Chief Information Security Officer

Swinburne is pursuing a significant uplift in its internal IT capability, in support of the university’s ambitious Horizon 2025 strategy. A critical component to creating a high performing IT team, is the appointment of a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

As the CISO you will be responsible for managing IT’s Cyber Security and Risk team, with the primary purpose of creating, maintaining and assuring the effectiveness of Swinburne’s cyber security and IT risk management capabilities.

This position will also be responsible to ensure the relevant cyber security and IT risk management standards and processes are being genuinely applied across the university’s portfolio of the applications, integrations and data repositories, networks and infrastructure including both on-premises and cloud solutions, and service providers.
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

• Prior experience leading a cyber security and risk management practice within an enterprise organization, preferably with a federate model where influence and direction of IT teams and staff not in the direct line of management is required.
• Extensive general experience in leadership and people management of IT teams of similar size and complexity.
• Experience in creating and managing an IT wide audit program including the execution of independent cyber security testing and other quality assurance reviews.
• Advanced technical expertise and prior experience in more hands-on cyber security and IT risk analyst roles.
• Experience in representing and communicating the cyber security agenda and direction to Council and executive management to secure their support.
