About Your Role

Reporting to the Vice President for Above Water Systems, you will join our Defence Mission Systems team which provides a variety of services to the Royal Australian Navy and other partners.

The Business Development Manager will work at all levels within the company to lead and manage business development activities. The Business Development Manager will leverage existing knowledge base whilst proactively targeting, prospecting and developing new client relationships.

Your exciting new career opportunity will see you; 

  • Supporting actions to promote Key Account Managers and sales forces during the upstream opportunity phase and up to the designation of a Capture Leader.
  • Understanding customer missions, operational environments and priorities.
  • Providing customer and market information to the marketing of Thales solutions of the customer’s missions.
  • Influencing customers in expressing their needs and operational concepts.
  • Defining and establishing a strategy for conquering markets, in terms of product/market positioning, promotion initiatives, pricing policy and partnerships.
  • Contributing to defining the best solution (product/system/service) addressing customer needs.

How About You?

  • A tertiary qualification in sales, marketing, business management or a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in sales and sales support.
  • Advanced skills to effectively identify, penetrate, manage and close opportunities.
  • Excellent ability to work with clients at all levels, understand and translate the client business needs into a valued solution.
  • Exceptional customer relationship building skills along with excellent communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the Defence capability and acquisition process.
  • Superior understanding of the sales cycle.
  • Strong ability to understand complex technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical groups.
