Your role

The best lawyers need the best business partners. At Allens, our business teams are also specialists in their field, using their unique knowledge and expertise to solve critical client and business challenges.

You will be part of our Business Development team, working directly with partners in Sydney and Melbourne. Our partners are focused on their clients and growth. They are keen to work with someone that is able to bring fresh ideas, generate leads, solve problems, manage and execute high value pursuits, and drive forward growth initiatives aligned to practice strategy.

As a Business Development Manager, you will:

  • Set practice strategy and priorities with partners, working with relevant corporate services team members and driving implementation.
  • Identify areas for cross practice and sector collaboration and execute accordingly.
  • Play a client relationship management role with appropriate clients, including coaching on and advocating for the CRM tools available.
  • Conduct client feedback (relationship, matter and tender feedback) to continually improve our service offering and to gain further insights into client's business.
  • Encourage the sharing of client intelligence, lessons learned and best practice BD across the firm.
  • Leverage networks to generate leads.
  • Identify and lead strategy pursuits of clients and deal opportunities.
  • With our Marketing team, identify events, publishing, media and speaking opportunities and provide partners and lawyers with support in pursuing these opportunities.
  • Understand the market and stay across client and competitor activity while sharing your insights.
  • Prepare, project manage and contribute to tenders.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members and identify ways to support their career growth.
