An international Developer and Asset Owner of utility-scale Renewable Energy plants, including Solar, Wind, Hydro, Geothermal power, as well as Energy Storage facilities, our clients have over 56GW installed renewables capacity across 5 continents. With 300 MW in Solar currently in operation in Australia, they also have a significant pipeline of Wind and Solar projects under development.
The Opportunity
Assisting the Head of Origination, the successful candidate will identify opportunities for electricity sales through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in support of new and existing Renewable Energy Projects in Australia.
Role Responsibilities
- Support new renewable capacity development in Australia by securing project revenues through long-term energy sales agreements (PPAs) with commercial, industrial and non-traditional off-takers.
- Scout and identify business development opportunities for long-term sales of energy & LGCs by building commercial relationships with large customers, energy consultants and utilities, managing contract negotiation and devising pricing structures for off-takers.
- Manage responses to Requests for Proposals and tenders for renewable energy from corporate off-takers, by preparing and structuring offers, in close collaboration with Developers, Energy Management & internal teams.
- Prepare sales documentation including proposals, pitch decks, ad hoc client communications and update internal CRM, sales process systems & RFP market monitoring tool.
- Assist the Head of Origination with mark-up and negotiations of Term Sheets & PPAs (bespoke & ISDA).
- Follow developments and policies in the energy, environmental and carbon markets and update the business regarding any changes.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have a positive attitude to start-up business as part of an international group, excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team to tight deadlines, with a result oriented and proactive approach
- Over 5+ years experience in the Energy & Renewable Power markets
- Demonstrated experience managing complex offers and successful negotiation of profitable contracts with a proven track record in executed energy sales.
- Deep understanding of fundamental market conditions and drivers impacting power markets & related commodities in Australia (power, gas, LGCs).
- Demonstrated experience understanding Term Sheets clauses and familiarity with Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Key Terms & Conditions
- Capability to build relationships with internal & external stakeholders
- Engineering/ Economics/ Finance Degree/ Masters in Energy-related field and great understanding of business processes & data management (eg. Salesforce)
