Description:
The University of Melbourne would like to acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Owners of the lands upon which our campuses are situated, the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung Peoples, the Yorta Yorta Nation, the Dja Dja Wurrung People. We acknowledge that the land on which we meet and learn was the place of age-old ceremonies, of celebration, initiation and renewal, and that the local Aboriginal Peoples have had and continue to have a unique role in the life of these lands.
About the organisation
Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a leading international university with a tradition of excellence in teaching and research. The Parkville campus is recognised as the hub of Australia’s premier knowledge precinct, comprising eight hospitals, a number of leading research institutes and a wide range of knowledge-based industries. With outstanding performance in international rankings, the University is at the forefront of higher education in the Asia Pacific region, and the world. As the central facilitator of research funding in the University, the Research, Innovation and Commercialisation arm (RIC)’s mission is to support the University’s research efforts across core services of business development, intellectual property and technology transfer, grants, contracts, ethics, research integrity and custom education.
About the role
Working in close partnership with the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Business and Economics in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster, the Business Development Manager engages with faculty leaders, researchers and other stakeholders across the university to identify, facilitate and manage commercial partnerships that will bring mutual benefits to all parties. As opportunities are identified, the Business Development Manager will broker relationships with community and industry partners, working closely to shape projects, lead initiatives, and bring new products and services through to creating impact and commercial fruition. As an important link between the Faculty and RIC, the Business Development Manager will work to uplift capability and awareness across the faculty within the areas of research funding and commercial opportunity, in line with the Faculty’s broader strategic objectives.
