Business Development Director

 

Description:


As our Business Development Director, you will be passionate about working within the Land and Aerospace domains, and will have a strong understanding of Defence and industry requirements for ground-based air defence, live simulation, ground combat weapons, signature management, tactical communications and sovereign integration for complex land domain assets.

With a primary focus on growth in the Land domain, you will draw on your extensive Defence experience, knowledge and networks to develop a compelling business growth strategy that builds a strong pipeline of opportunities and secures long term profitable work.

Reporting to the General Manager Strategic Growth, your experience will position you to be able to effectively:
 

  • Partner with the business line to formulate and execute the Land & Aerospace growth strategy
  • Build targeted short and long term business development strategies that translate into profitable and sustainable business growth
  • Identify and pursue opportunities that provide early in-roads to long term strategic programs or customer targets
  • Partner with the business line to develop campaign and capture plans for Land programs
  • Actively engage customers and partners to understand requirements and shape opportunities and solutions.

With a credible history within the industry, you are highly regarded, well networked, and able to leverage your trusted relationships to build a deep understanding of customer needs.

You will bring to the role:
 

  • Highly strategic thinking, with the unique ability to think outside the box and create opportunities ahead of competitors
  • Proven experience successfully growing a targeted domain/business within the defence land domain or within broader defence, government or adjacent industry sectors
  • Well-developed commercial acumen, including sound knowledge of defence and government contracting and tendering, capability development, acquisition processes, structures and operations
  • A network of key stakeholders and critical decision makers within the defence land domain or within broader defence, government, aerospace or adjacent industry sectors
  • A proactive go getter attitude, with strong resilience and perseverance to build and prosecute long term strategies and campaigns
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Sales/Business Development training (e.g. Shipley) or equivalent industry experience.
