Description:

The Firm Business Development & Communications (BD&C) Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the business development efforts of the Sydney office, with a primary focus on events planning and execution. Additional business development and events support may be required for the Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth offices. The BD&C Events Coordinator reports directly to the Business Development & Communications Manager and the Firm Director, Business Development & Communications. In performing this role, the BD&C Events Coordinator is expected to demonstrate initiative, set priorities, ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments, and comply with Firm policies and procedures. The BD&C Events Coordinator is also expected to assist in other BD&C-related functions, including for example helping with tracking of client interactions and client targeting, and with the preparation of internal BD&C-related documents (such as slide decks for internal business development meetings). The BD&C Events Coordinator is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to producing quality work product as part of a global team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop understanding of the Australian offices, its culture, strategic direction, practice mix, and primary industries in the local market.
  • Work closely and collaborate with lawyers in the Sydney office and other offices as needed.
  • Organize and execute client-facing events, including: preparing guest lists, invitations, CLE approval (in coordination with the Firm Continuing Legal Education staff), and name tags; ensuring that agendas, presentation materials, and meeting handouts are developed, produced, and distributed; communicating with guests regarding event arrangements and coordinating other event-related tasks.
  • Organize civic and charitable commitments, including processing charitable paperwork and producing advertising, invitations, and other design work that is consistent with the Firm’s Identity Standards, with Design Services.
  • Assist BD&C Manager in monitoring BD budget for the assigned office(s).
  • Work with BD&C Manager to generate business/competitive intelligence and client reports as needed.
  • Coordinate with Firm Business Acquisition to produce and deliver proposal materials locally.
  • Understand local client base and market; maintain local mailing lists (when language is a factor) in CRM software.
  • Maintain the Australian -related website content and social media sites, with oversight from the Regional BD&C Manager and office leadership.
  • Assist Firm directories team with drafting and submitting local directory, survey, and competition submissions, as needed/directed.
