Description:
As a board member, you will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Maintaining and (as necessary) refining a system of good governance that is appropriate for the organisation, adhering to the ACNC’s five governance standards.
- Driving the strategic direction of the organisation
- Advocate for the organisation’s mission, vision, and programs to the public and stakeholders.
- Act as a fiduciary of the organisation, ensuring its financial stability and accountability.
- Provide guidance to the board on various matters, such as governance, contracts, fundraising, advocacy, and risk management.
- Participate in board meetings, committees, and events (where required).
- Regularly reviewing the board's structure and composition
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following selection criteria:
- Have demonstrated non-profit board experience and a comprehensive understanding of non-profit governance standards and responsibilities.
- Have a passion for the mission and vision of the organisation.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Be well-connected in the non-profit and health sector.
- Be able to devote at least 4 hours per month to board duties and attend Board Meetings held once a month on a Thursday evening.
- Be willing to serve for a minimum term of 1 year.
- Be able to work effectively in a team and respect diverse opinions.
