Description:
We are looking for an exceptional Automation Engineer who will provide professional engineering services managing the design, selection, procurement, installation and commissioning of equipment required to meet the company’s manufacturing objectives.
This role will also lead Unilever’s Digital Factory and Cyber security initiatives for the Minto site.
Role Responsibilities
GENERAL
- Provide specialist advice and service in the areas of automation & controls engineering
- Lead both Digital Factory and Cyber Security initiatives
- Advise factory management and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on new and evolving technologies to ensure Minto’s automation systems are continually improving towards Unilever’s Digital Factory ambitions
- Plan, prioritise and execute automation process improvement work with all production teams
- Deliver projects and automation & control elements of new installations
- Provide automation & controls technical support to ensure that production requirements are met
- Lead and manage the design, selection, procurement, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment required to meet Minto’s manufacturing standards
- Provide production with excellent service in electrical & controls breakdown and maintenance support
- Support site WCM program by participating in activities across all pillar’s as required
SAFETY
- Ensure all new installations and changes to existing plant comply with Australian Standards and Unilever regulations
- Carry out activities according to the company’s safety and environmental policies
- Ensure all contractors comply with site safety and environmental requirements and follow the site contractor management system
- Assist with the development and compliance of site electrical safety standards and ensuring these standards are trained out and adhered to
- Follow all site safety requirements and continuously adopt safe working practices. Take all steps to maintain own health and safety and health and safety of others
PERSONNEL
- Support the training of trades and plant operators in the effective use of control systems installed in the factory
- Provide Manufacturing/Production Leaders with the latest information on changes to the factory
- Formal & informal reviews during and at the end of the project to ensure successful "hand over" delivers world class performance
- Effective planning, organisation, leadership and interaction with workplace teams and other support department

- Experience in materials handling, manufacturing processes
- An understanding of the fundamentals of process design
- An understanding of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles

Does this sound like You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Must have a degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or Electrical trades certificate with minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing
- Experience leading cross functional teams and supervising trades personnel and contractors Program Logic Control (PLC) and Supervising Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) programming experience
- Strong communications, written and verbal
- Strong organisation skills
