About the Position

Newington College is seeking an experienced and dynamic athlete to join our Athletics Coaching Team as a Middle Distance - Head Coach on a casual basis. The successful incumbent is expected to commence as soon as possible.

The Middle Distance - Head Coach is required to have excellent verbal communication skills as well as possess the confidence to interact with a diverse range of young men. The successful candidate will have a passion to work with young men and enhance their athletic abilities at all levels.

The Newington Sports department is responsible for managing the year-round compulsory sports program for the Stanmore Campus (7-12) and the Preparatory Campus’, Wyvern and Lindfield (K-6).

The Sports Department includes full-time Directors of established traditional sports, part-time Directors of developing sports, sports administrators, health, and wellbeing professionals.

The Athletics Coaching team includes a director, teaching staff coaches, casual coaches, and interns. The team is responsible for the provision of coaching and expertise to our disciplines, Sprints, Middle Distance, High Jump, Long Jump, Hurdles and Shotput.

Athletics in the AAGPS is an intense, enjoyable time which falls at the end of our Winter season. It is a short 5-week season starting August 14th and concluding September 16th. The AAGPS Athletics Carnival is the largest Athletics spectator event in Australia (outside of a world Championships/Olympics/Comm Games). It’s an exciting time for all involved.
