The Department of Education at Swinburne University of Technology is a crucial discipline area within the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education. The Department of Education is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and motivated academic who will lead the enhancement of a strong school partnership portfolio for Education. The incumbent will also contribute undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a specific focus on early years mathematics education. Teaching will involve a range of blended delivery methods, including lectures, tutorials and seminars, both online and face-face. The incumbent will be expected to lead courses, contribute to, and lead curriculum design and the development of blended learning materials and assessment. This includes accreditation activities associated with external agencies and organisations. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to the research profile of the department by participating in and leading a defined field of research within Education. The incumbent will be actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate research students.
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching including a record of leading unit and course co-ordination as well as innovative teaching and curriculum design in early childhood education, mathematics education and/or professional experience.
  • Excellent understanding of WIL and a demonstrated track record of success in initiating and deepening relationships with school partners in the education sector.
  • Excellent understanding of the trends and issues in mathematics education and professional practice/WIL in ITE.
  • An outstanding track record of high-quality research outputs, and evidence of successfully obtaining competitive research funding.
