Description:

The Associate Director, Educational Futures provides academic leadership to foster, develop and maintain an innovative and engaged learning and teaching culture at Swinburne. The incumbent will assist in developing a strong pedagogical base for the Education Strategy in a technology-rich learning and teaching ecosystem. The Manger will lead a team of academics and professional staff to deliver strategic projects, research activities and future-focused engagement. The Manager will also assist in the design and delivery of professional learning activities to enable academic and VET staff to teach effectively in contemporary learning environments, including coordinating the delivery of the Graduate Certificate of Learning and Teaching.

The position requires high levels of collaboration with educators including academics and VET teachers, senior staff, and committees to contribute to developing innovative approaches to learning and teaching in pursuit of Swinburne’s 2025 vision.

The incumbent is expected to participate in activities that will develop closer and stronger links with other universities, industry, and the profession, both nationally and internationally, which contribute to innovative learning and teaching.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated excellence in academic leadership, combined with the proven ability to assume responsibility and accountability for the development and implementation of strategies and major academic initiatives and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of teaching excellence, and to promote and foster collaborations with educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team in day-to-day activities, including managing performance and behaviours and supporting staff development.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated track record of research or scholarship, including contributions and outputs relating to learning and teaching innovations and the scholarship of teaching.

Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral qualification in a relevant field
