Description:

This position resides in Scholarly Services within the Research and Collection Stewardship Portfolio which consists of Collection Access and Development, Research Information and Engagement as well as Archives and Special Collections
You will lead and provide strategic direction to the teams with custodial and management responsibilities across our archives and special collections.

You and your team will develop strategy, policy and contemporary frameworks for the stewardship of these collections; facilitate access, maximise visibility, engagement and integration into the scholarly life of the University by supporting its teaching and research priorities and maintaining and strengthening the public profile of the collections through community engagement.

You will be required to drive transformational change in the digital environment developing strategic frameworks to collect, manage and preserve digital material and explore innovative and immersive ways to embed archival and special collections in the life of the University.
Your advanced interpersonal skills and extensive experience in building relationships will assist you in maintaining rapport with a wide range of stakeholders from various backgrounds.

You will have the ability to motivate, persuade and negotiate with colleagues throughout your workplace. You will be an ethical leader who values diversity and can work with any individual effectively and professionally. Your sound organisational skills will ensure that your individual workload is completed productively to meet with strict deadlines.

Ideally you will also be able to demonstrate:

  • postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience with substantial experience at a senior level or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and /or experience at a senior level within a large and complex academic, research or cultural institution

  • strong capability as an ethical leader who values diversity and works effectively with individual differences including the ability to lead, motivate and develop expert teams

  • extensive experience in change management, program evaluation, business improvements and performance measurement with a strong focus and demonstrated track record in designing and delivering exceptional scholarly support services at scale, using performance data and evidence to drive quality improvement

  • deep understanding and experience in archival and special collection management including contemporary and integrated approaches to maximise visibility and engagement with these collections to support of teaching, learning, research and global engagement
