We are looking for enthusiastic people who are interested in contributing to policies that support the transport sector, ensuring freight and transport continue to function efficiently and effectively to support Australian communities and the national and local economies. There is currently a range of opportunities across the Division. It is expected a merit list will be established which may be used for future vacancies in the Branches and Division.
The Land Transport Policy Branch leads a broad range of work including ongoing reforms in the areas of heavy vehicle policy, rail policy and safety, and accessibility of public transport. The branch also manages the implementation of the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy and develops policy responses to emerging freight and supply chain issues to ensure Australia’s supply chains are efficient and resilient.
The Disability and Transport Standards Section is leading a national process to reform the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport, as well as undertaking the next 5-year statutory review of the Standards. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with people with disability, state and territory government officials and public transport operators to improve the accessibility of public transport across Australia. Experience in impact analysis and legislative processes would be beneficial.
