About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring all asset related transactions are updated in the asset management system and reconciled to the general ledger. You will be responsible for preparation of the monthly Infrastructure Property Plant & Equipment financial statements and associated notes. You will liaise with the Assets Management Team to ensure accurate financial data is maintained in the asset management system. You will coordinate regular stocktakes whilst also regularly monitoring and maintaining Council’s Portable and Attractive Items Register. A main responsibility is to develop and report on the key performance indicators from Council’s assets database. You will join a collaborative, motivational and hardworking team who strives for success.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting and extensive job related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying accounting procedures and legislation, particularly in the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in maintaining a computerised Asset Management system.
  • Experience in the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards including asset revaluation accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting local government and participation in established industry networks.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to work as an effective and cooperative team member.
