The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for an experienced PSL3 Art Officer to facilitate the delivery of projects and services across the Parliament.

DPS are responsible for a wide range of services and facilities, working closely with the Department of the Senate, the Department of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Budget Office to support the operations of the Parliament and its Committees.

The Art Collections within Parliament House are nationally significant collections consisting of more than 6,500 works spanning all genres of Australian art. They were created to be an essential element of the building’s architectural fabric reflecting the unique qualities of Australia. The collections include:

• Historic Memorials Collection
• Architectural Commissions
• Gifts Collection
• The Rotational Collection of contemporary and Indigenous artworks.

The Art Collections Section is responsible for the custody, care, development and control of the Parliament House Art Collections.

These roles facilitate the delivery of art services to the Parliament and contribute to a range of projects supporting the delivery of engagement, collection care, digitisation and project works. A key part of these roles is the ability to respond flexibly to a range of projects while ensuring the safety and security of the art collections.

The successful candidates will need to have demonstrated experience in similar roles. Candidates selected for interview may be asked to undertake a practical exercise as part of the selection process.

• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
• The position requires capacity to undertake physically demanding manual handling work – a medical examination will be required for the successful applicant.
