Architect

Description:

The safety and wellbeing of our employees and potential employees are important to us. Our external candidates will have the choice to either interview in our offices or via Zoom. Not only do we wish to protect the health and safety of our people, we want to assure candidates that there is no expectation from REA to meet face-to-face. A virtual interview will not adversely impact your application. If you have any questions or concerns, this can be discussed through the screening process.

PLEASE NOTE: We are open to the role being based out of Sydney or Melbourne

We're REA

An Australian start-up success story we're quietly proud of.

From a garage in Melbourne to the global stage is an achievement we're humbled by. Our idea to put pictures of houses on the internet has blossomed since 1995, and we now have businesses across Australia, Asia, India and North America.

Our purpose is to change the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help on every step - whether that's buying, selling, renting or renovating.

Some of our brands include realestate.com.au, realcommercial.com.au, spacely.com.au, Flatmates.com.au, Smartline.com.au and Proptrack.com.

What we're doing

With us, you'll experience impact. As an Architect you will be responsible for the architecture and design of our most critical systems. Your scope of responsibility spans multiple business units and you're solving big problems for all of REA. In collaboration with other technical leaders across the business you will lead the development of the technical vision for REA and apply it to the sites and products in your area. You will combine your extensive technical experience with your understanding of the business to guide your teams through all aspects of software delivery.

What you'll be doing:

While the focus of this role is on architecture and leadership, you will remain hands on and work with teams to develop software solutions using agile software development practices as required. You will champion our technical practices to ensure a high-quality outcome for our business. You will share responsibility for the provisioning, deployment and operational support of the software your team builds.

You will contribute positively to REA's culture by build engagement and morale, be involved in recruiting, set structure and processes and generally help build and maintain high performing teams. You will use your skills and experience to mentor junior, mid-level and senior team members.

Architects support their team in the following ways:

  • Contributing to the architecture practice
  • Contributing to the overall technical direction for REA in collaboration with other senior technical leaders
  • Driving significant components of the global architectural and technology strategy for REA
  • Working with product stakeholders to meet architectural goals through delivery roadmaps
  • Designing high quality and simple solutions that meet the needs of our users and the business
  • Leading the implementation and decommissioning of architecturally complex projects of global significance end-to-end, including, front-end, native mobile, APIs, data and delivery engineering tech
  • Contributing to the REA knowledge base through blog posts, brown-bags sessions and coaching less experienced members of the team
  • Actively representing the REA technology team in public forums such as conferences, community groups and our technical blog
