The School of Engineering aims to provide globally recognised practical, relevant, and innovative programs, research and industry training. RMIT is a national leader in aerospace engineering and aviation, with long-standing industry connections and extensive expertise in education and research. RMIT is proud to teach the latest knowledge and technology in areas such as aerodynamics, aerospace materials and structures, aerospace systems, design, dynamics and control, thermodynamics, propulsion, and airline and aviation management and operations.

To help to support student learning we require a passionate and experienced individual that will prepare and deliver teaching and / or marking in the area of Aerospace Engineering. We welcome applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest to teach and/or mark on a casual basis within the Discipline.

The volume, nature and availability of sessional teaching will vary based on the needs of the Discipline including course offerings, timetabling and student demand.

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge and expertise in any of the following aerospace areas: astronautics, satellite design and operations, and related technologies and/or crewed and uncrewed aircraft and spacecraft system design and operations and related technologies and research expertise.
  • Qualification of Bachelor (Honours). Note: Bachelor (Pass) candidates can still apply provided they meet the minimum industry experience of more than 5 years but must undergo Qualifications Equivalency assessment at RMIT to be eligible for this position.
  • Evidence of teaching ability and the capacity to engage students in an enthusiastic, concise, engaging and informative manner
  • Demonstrable ability to grade student assessment and provide appropriate feedback
  • Demonstrable knowledge of requisite content, research, and writing skills for course/s taught within Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate Aerospace Engineering and Aviation programs
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including both written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team.
